Information Databases
True Colors: True Colors is a personality-based self-assessment that is fun and easy to use, yet extremely insightful. The assessment is based on the user selecting keywords that are descriptive of personality characteristics. The results will give your students a four color profile.
Occupations: Your students will be able to search through hundreds of occupations, many of which they may have never heard of. Descriptions include a section on courses they may need to take in high school and links to related training programs or college majors. There are over 800 major, and over 1,000 related occupations referenced; with a total of over 2500 titles. Descriptions are detailed, and clearly written. There are 20 information topics for each occupation. In addition, this database includes hundreds of links to professional associations that also provide information on given careers. Sample Occupational Description - Nurse Practitioners

| MicroSkills: MicroSkills enables your students to view themselves from a transferable skills or talent perspective. The on-line assessment has two options... they are a card sort, and a questionnaire. Students can save their sessions and come back at a later date to compete the assessment. Students will find the results motivational and informative. Can be adapted to a classroom environment. MicroSkills can also be purchased as a standalone product. MicroSkills Results Sample

Programs of Study: Your students will be able to review college majors and postsecondary training programs. These programs are linked to colleges or universities located through-out the country. The descriptions include links to related occupations and careers, and links to other similar programs. A list of colleges that offer the major are also a part of the description. Sample Programs of Study - Nursing
| Occupations Questionnaire: Your students will experience a "reality check" when they use the EUREKA Occupations Questionnaire. There are 36 questions, which reflect what the labor market requires for a given job or career. Because the labor market is pretty conventional, there are combinations of desires that do not easily meet the realities of the world of work. A simple example, and one you can easily do with the Occupations Questionnaire, is a student expects to make $3,000 or more per month as a starting salary, with only a high school education. The student will find that a "typical" job or career will not meet those characteristics. That's a "reality check"!
Colleges and Universities: Your students will be able to browse through a database of more than 2500 national and international colleges and universities. They will have links that allow them to apply on-line,if this is a service provided by the college. The college information is very detailed and includes NCAA level sports and whether sport scholarships are offered. Sample College Description - UC Los Angeles
| Database Filters: The colleges and universities and short-term training databases have filters or sort programs that allow students to put in criteria specific to their circumstances or personal characteristics. The system then generates a list of colleges or universities that fit their responses.
Financial Aid Guide: Financial aid is the biggest barrier some students have to attending college. Here, they will learn tips for finding awards.
Job Search: This section of the site will be on-line during the fall of this year. It will include a detailed overview of the job search process, and a comprehensive section on resumes, incuding electronic ones. If you wish to see what jobs are currently available, visit our partner
Bi-Lingual: For your Spanish speaking students, we have a module in Spanish. It includes occupational descriptions, and a career assessment. We include a statement regarding the level of English proficiency needed to perform the job in the United States. (Available on CD; on-line fall, 2003.)
